Materials

What we need to assess the case

None of these items is sent through the form. If the case is accepted, the material follows the channel agreed in the contract.

  • The computer or disk with the browser profile where MetaMask was installed, or a backup of that folder.
  • Your memories of the extension password: length, pattern, similar passwords used at the time.
  • A public address (0x...) of your accounts, to confirm the right wallet.
  • If the problem is the seed: the words you have and the positions in doubt.
  • Proof of identity and ownership, verified before any technical work.

Process

How we handle a MetaMask case

The path is the same as in every other case: triage without secrets, a 30 minute assessment, a proposal, offline execution and an assisted transfer to a new wallet.

Viability

What determines viability

The MetaMask vault is an encrypted data blob (AES-GCM) whose key is derived from the password with PBKDF2. Recent extension versions raised the iteration count, which makes each attempt more expensive, but it remains feasible when there are good password hypotheses.

Existence of the vault
If the extension is still installed, the vault sits in the browser's local storage. If it was uninstalled, it may still exist in unallocated disk space, system backups or browser sync, but each scenario lowers the odds.
Quality of the password memories
The MetaMask password has at least 8 characters and is usually an everyday password. Known patterns with specific variations produce feasible search spaces.
Extension version
Vaults created by old versions use 10,000 PBKDF2 iterations; versions from 2023 onwards use 600,000. The difference in cost per attempt changes the time estimate.
Reference address
With a known 0x address, confirmation is immediate. Without it, validation is still possible by opening the vault, but identifying the accounts depends on on-chain history.

Service limits

What we cannot do

  • We cannot recover a MetaMask whose extension was removed with no profile backup and no seed phrase. MetaMask servers do not store seeds or passwords.
  • We do not recover tokens sent to scammers, drained through a malicious signature or transferred to the wrong address. Those transactions are irreversible.
  • We do not guarantee finding the password; unstructured search spaces are reported as unfeasible during the assessment.

Security and confidentiality

Your data is treated as the most sensitive asset in the process.

We minimize data collection for every case. Recovery attempts are performed offline on equipment controlled by Vault, with access restricted to the specialists responsible.

Never send a seed phrase, private key or password to someone who contacts you without your request. Always verify Vault Recovery's official channels.

The assessment is free. If the vault is opened or the seed rebuilt and the assets are transferred to your new wallet, the fee follows the brackets below. Without success, there is no fee.
